This is a picture of an ancient Bosnian tombstone. This was at the time when Bosnia was a Kingdom and had its own Church, independent of Rome and Constantinoples. We can actually claim to have been the first democratic country in Europe because at the time when Europeans were burning people, especially women, at stakes, for being "villains" and "witches", we accepted anyone who came to ask for refuge here. The Pope called our country "Reffugium hereticum", and us Bosnians "The Plague". | |||||||||||||||||||||||
